APRIL 6, 2020, ARLINGTON, Va.—Responding to the announcement of Erik Gutshall’s resignation from the Arlington County Board due to ongoing health concerns, Arlington County Democratic Committee (Arlington Democrats) Chair Jill Caiazzo issued the following statement:
“Erik Gutshall is a true servant-leader who has always put the needs of the Arlington community first. We are grateful for his service and will sincerely miss his voice on the County Board, where he has sought common ground and practical solutions for the challenges facing our community. During this difficult time, Arlington Democrats stand with Erik and his family, who remain firmly in our thoughts and our hearts.”
As specific ways to support the Gutshalls are identified, Arlington Democrats will provide more information to its membership.
“Although the news of Erik’s departure from the County Board is difficult to process, the Arlington Democrats will continue forward in the spirit of Erik’s leadership -- by remaining steadfast in our service to the community,” Caiazzo continued. The Arlington Democrats will provide information about the process for designating the Democratic candidate in the special election to fill the vacated County Board, once details about that special election are set.
