Blue Community Corps: Volunteer with Arlington Jaycees & AFAC

August 31, 2019 @ 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm

Blue Community Corps is the community service arm of the Arlington County Democratic Party. We exist to work within Arlington County to provide unique service opportunities in conjunction with local non-profits and civic organizations. Our events are a great way to have fun, connect with important local causes, and to strengthen our great community. The next opportunity to get involved will be a partnership with Arlington Jaycees & Arlington Food Assistance Center.

Please join us as we volunteer at the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC). We will sort canned goods and produce for distribution to low income families. There is street parking available near the building. AFAC is a long-time community partner of the Arlington Jaycees, so please help us support them. Both members and non-members are welcome – feel free to bring a friend!

AFAC is located at 2708 S Nelson Street in Shirlington. The Volunteer Entrance is the gray door by the loading dock. The sign-in station is ahead and to the right. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes, no sandals or flip flops. You must also have your hair covered while bagging food. You can bring a hat or scarf from home or AFAC will provide disposable hairnets. Hope to see you there!

Since 1988, the Arlington Food Assistance Center remains dedicated to its simple but critical mission of obtaining and distributing groceries, directly and free of charge, to people living in Arlington, VA, who cannot afford to purchase enough food to meet their basic needs.

The Arlington Jaycees is the premier organization in Arlington that provides young people (ages 21-40) with opportunities for personal & professional growth, community involvement and social engagement in the Arlington Community
