Arlington Dems Leadership Election (Reorganization Meeting)
Date: January 5, 2022, 7pm
Location: Lubber Run Community Center, 300 N. Park Drive
Background
The Democratic Party of Virginia requires local committees like Arlington Democrats to reorganize every two years. This means that the Arlington Democrats must hold a “Reorganization Meeting” where the officers of the Arlington Democrats will be elected to two-year terms. At the meeting, the Arlington Democrats precinct captains for all 54 voting precincts in Arlington also will be elected to two-year terms.
The next Arlington Democrats Reorganization Meeting will be held on January 5, 2022 at 7 pm at Lubber Run Community Center, 300 N. Park Drive, in Arlington, Virginia. Consistent with our bylaws, the Arlington Democrats adopted rules to govern the conduct of this Reorganization Meeting.
Meeting Logistics
All are very welcome to attend the reorganization meeting; however, only individuals who have signed-up to vote in the leadership election will be eligible to vote. The sign-up period is now closed.
The meeting proceedings will take place on the outdoor patio at Lubber Run Community Center, which features standing room for those who wish to remain outdoors during the meeting. The meeting proceedings will be simultaneously displayed on screens inside the community center for those who wish to stay indoors during the meeting. Ballot boxes will be available both indoors and outdoors for those who have signed-up to vote in the leadership election.
Voter check-in will take place under a tent placed on the outdoor patio. Voters must be in line to check-in by 7:15 pm in order to be eligible to vote. Limited curbside voter check-in will be available for voters who meet any of the following criteria: COVID-positive; subject to COVID contact tracing; immunocompromised; or mobility impaired. Individuals wishing to take advantage of this limited curbside voting are asked to email reorg@arlingtondemocrats.org so that we have sufficient volunteers onsite.
The meeting agenda is available for review. Regular voting will begin immediately following the close of all candidate speeches. Results will be announced as soon as all votes are tabulated. We will be collecting unopened cereal boxes to donate to a local food pantry.
Individuals wishing to watch the meeting proceedings remotely may do so via the Arlington Dems YouTube Channel). There is no option for virtual voting.
