Caucuses

Outreach caucuses exist to advocate, elevate and champion our democratic values via issue/identity focused groups.  Find out more and join a caucus.

Farmers Markets

We are at most Farmers Markets from late spring through election day. This includes Courthouse and Lubber Run on Saturdays from 8-noon, Marymount on Saturdays from 9-1pm, Columbia Pike, Fairlington, and Westover on Sundays from 9-1pm, and Ballston on Thursdays from 3-7pm. One hour shifts allow you to shop too. Help register voters, hand out materials and talk to voters. Provide a space where candidates can meet voters as well.

Grassroots Organizations

The Virginia Grassroots Coalition brings together grassroots groups working in Virginia to collectively strategize and support progressive candidates and policies.  Our Outreach Team liaises with this group as they share in our mission to advance Democratic values.

Issue Based Fora

The Outreach Team is pleased to host ongoing and routine issue based summits, roundtables, meetings, and forums on various policies and progressive candidates that drive Democratic values forward. Watch our calendar for upcoming events.

Activities on hold due to COVID-19

Festivals
Martin Luther King, Jr. said that “everybody can be great, because everyone can serve,” and one of the most fun ways is to work at our community’s festivals! No special skills required EXCEPT an interest in meeting people to share information about our candidates, voter registration, our events and our many volunteer opportunities.

There are events almost every weekend from Feb through Oct, including the County Fair, cultural/heritage festivals, music festivals, parades, and street fairs. We provide the tent, table, chairs and all handouts.

You provide the smile and welcome for a 2hour shift with at least three other volunteers. The candidates always stop by, so it’s a great chance to catch up with them, with your neighbors, and make new friends. And have we mentioned the awesome food, music, crafts and activities at the festivals?
Monthly Breakfasts
Join us on the second Saturday of every month from 8:00am-9:45am at Busboys and Poets (4251 S. Campbell Ave. in Shirlington) for breakfast and conversation with a guest speaker.  Please bring cash as we get one check for our breakfast selections and split the bill.
